About Cullendale

In 1940, fifteen people gathered together to begin what is now Cullendale Assembly of God. The first church building was constructed using bricks from the Kingsland School District, with members hauling and cleaning the bricks and donating nearly all of the labor.

In early 1946, the church became affiliated with the Assemblies of God, and Rev. Jess Bowen was elected as its first Assemblies of God pastor. From those humble beginnings, Cullendale Assembly of God has faithfully proclaimed the Gospel of Jesus Christ and continues to stand on the truth that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. We believe He still saves the lost, baptizes believers in the Holy Spirit, heals the sick, and will one day return for His people.

Core Values

We are committed to sharing the hope of Jesus, growing together in God’s Word, creating a place for genuine worship, and serving others with the love of Christ. Since 1946, our purpose has remained the same — to lift up Jesus, love people, and faithfully share His message with our community and beyond.

As an Assemblies of God church, we affirm the 16 Fundamental Truths, the biblical beliefs that guide our faith and ministry. These truths are foundational to Assemblies of God churches around the world.

Four of these beliefs are recognized as our Cardinal Doctrines: Salvation, Baptism in the Holy Spirit, Divine Healing, and the Second Coming of Christ. Together, they express the heart of our mission — reaching people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and helping believers grow in a Spirit-filled life.

We Believe

  • We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. It is true, authoritative, and relevant to every area of our lives.

  • We believe in one eternal God who created all things and exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is perfectly loving and completely holy.

  • We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man and is the only way we can be reconciled to God. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, rose again in victory, and will one day return as He promised. Through Communion, we remember His sacrifice and celebrate the hope we have through Him.

  • We believe sin separates us from God and His purpose for our lives. Through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, we receive forgiveness, salvation, and new life.

  • We believe God desires to transform and empower believers. We believe in water baptism, living a life surrendered to God, and being filled with the power of the Holy Spirit so that we may live holy, fruitful, Spirit-led lives.

  • We believe God has called and equipped His Church to worship Him, strengthen believers, serve others, and share the Gospel with our community and the world.

  • We believe Jesus Christ is coming again. He will fulfill His promises, evil will ultimately be judged, and those who belong to Christ will live eternally with Him in the new heaven and new earth.
